Masterboard Monday Card Ideas

Hi Bloggers  everywhere, hope you are all doing well.

I have something for you today that my dear friend Gloria made.
You may remember this Masterboard that I posted some time ago.
I made one for myself and one for my friend Gloria.

 

It was made as part of a swap which we were then going to use in our crafting projects and send each other samples of what we had made and these are what she sent me.
She had never made or used a Masterboard before but the results are stunning. I just love what she made and I am sure you will too.

I don't know for sure but I think she added extra leaves by drawing them on and then embossing them.

 

She has handmade the note book and made a little pocket inside at the front and back.

The fastening is string with beads threaded onto it.

 

Each of the inside pages has been stamped to personalise the pages.

 

Tim Holtz decorative tape has been attached along the bottom.

 

She has sent me two other samples of her work but I will post these later in the week.

WOYWW # 251 I'm Back!

Hi WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday) friends, I'm back and have been busy unpacking and washing all the ski gear but I do not expect any sympathy lol!

Once I get it all out of the way it will be time to get started with some crafting again and here is my desk covered in stuff just waiting to be used.

So as not to waste your time I have posted mostly photographs today which should speak for themselves.

• Gorgeous Prima papers from Ali-Craft waiting for samples to be made.
• The marbles, I found in Meadow Hall near Sheffield. For those of you who don't know this place it is a shopping centre. The marbles were in an ethnic store and are supposed to ward-off the evil eye. Not sure yet what I will use them for but just had to have them lol!

• To the right are some lovely stamps from Clarity.

• Gorgeous wooden bobbins from the Range, lovely! and to the left of that some patterned duck tape from Paperchase.

• To the left of the photograph are some bits and pieces I just didn't want to throw away, empty containers, two ski lift passes and two corks from French wine bottles of course lol!

The Adventures of BP Mini Me.

Hi all,
BP Mini Me here.
My dear friends will know I have been keeping my head down a bit due to the work that has been taking place.
Although the men have gone now 'him indoors' has been busy painting everything from doors to ceilings but it didn't stop the two of them having another week away skiing.
So while they were out of the house I thought I would have another walkabout.

Not been very far though as I noticed someone new on the shelf.
I am beginning to wonder where they are coming from, you turn your head for a day and another crow arrives lol!

 

And so are we!

I am the only Crow here, take it away we don't need anymore!

 

Maybe she thought you needed company, everyone needs a friend, I've got BP and now you've got a little crow.

 

What do you know? you're just a clock that thinks it's a robot!

 

Now you two don't go falling out there's still room on the shelf for all of us.

 

I hope you all have a good week, don't worry about those two they will be just fine once they get used to the new guy.

I quite like him.

 

By the way, those two are back so we need to be in our places before she starts at the desk again.

WOYWW #250 Accordion Kitty Card.

Here is my desk for this week.
Fairly tidy lol!
There is a reason for this which I will tell you later.

 

 

Kitty cards for my friend, it is her birthday this week.
Decided to make her an accordion, card using some scrap book papers I have had for ages and not got round to using, they are called 'The Pet Scrapbook kit'. Incidentally she loves cats.

I have done some stamping to make the background using a  set of stamps called Paw Prints which I think may have been a free gift on a magazine.
I used the Karen Burniston die to make the accordion card, that's it at the back of the table.

 

I also used the dies that go with the Karen Burniston accordion die to create the mats.
This is one called the Labels and Stitched Frames.

And here is the finished card.

 

Only now I have to be honest, I am not really there and this is actually my desk this week.

 

And the view from the window.

 

I am sure you will forgive me for having two desks but I have been forced to go skiing in France.

Masterboard Monday.

Hi Blogging friends  hope you are all well.
This week I have been working on a Masterboard using only Tim Holtz stuff. I am planning to enter this in the new challenge blog at
A Vintage Journey - 'Anything Tim'. If you haven't seen this challenge blog I would pop over and have a look.
And also SanDee and Amelie's Steampunk challenge - 'Transparency'.

I know this is normally posted on Mondays but I may not be around so I am posting it early.

I started in my usual way with an A3 sheet of paper.
There are a lot of photographs today but the stages should need less explanation.
If there is anything unclear please leave me a comment and I will get back to you.

Firstly heat embossing with several Tim stamps. I feel that the stamps are one of the things he does so well. What a great range and such lovely vintage style so they are used to make most of this project.

 

Gradually adding browns from his range of distress inks.

And adding more stamping images using the brown inks.

Once this is dry, if you rub over it with a soft cloth it will remove ink from the embossing and help it to stand out better.

 

 

 

 I also added colour to several tags and then added detail with one of his stencils.

Here is a collection of some of the stamps used.

 

I cut out the end sections using one of his cutting dies then embossed and coloured them with a blending tool and distress ink.

 

I then cut the Masterboard into sections to fit the flattened tubes and started decorating them with various Tim Holtz stamps.

 

 

 

And here is the journal constructed and complete.

I also stamped and heat embossed onto acetate to make an overlay for the front page.

 

This is the overlay folded back.

 

 

As you can see the tubes make great pockets.

 

I also stamped onto some transparent paper to give added interest.

 

The images are either stamps or from one of the ephemera packs.

 

I'm sorry there are so many photographs this time but really wanted you to have the chance to see the whole journal.

WOYWW # 249

Hi Blogbuddies we are here again with What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. For further details go to Julia, at  Stamping Ground.

My contribution for this week is a page in my art journal which I have been trying to complete for some time.
SanDee and Amelie have a challenge this month whereby you must include something transparent in your project and it immediately gave me an idea for completing the page.
So here is my desk.
Things do seem to be getting pushed together again, where does the space go lol!

I used a variety of different makes of stamps for this though I am sure you will recognise the Octopode Factory, girl and boy.

 

It was in this part that I used the 'Transparency' which was the challenge for this month.

 

I stamped onto heat resisitant acetate and then heat embossed it.

With the addition of cogs and pipework I turned the globe into a submarine and placed it over the boy so he appeared to be inside.

Masterboard Monday

Hi Blogging friends I have two masterboards to show you today made by my dear friend Gloria.
She has not made masterboards before but agreed to give it a go so we have started a swap whereby we will both make a Masterboard and swap it.
We will then make something, of our own choice and send one sample of the finished products back to the person who made the masterboard.

I just love her choice of colours and the detail is brilliant, can't wait to use these and will come back later to show you the results.

 

 

 I have been amazed over the last couple of weeks at the number of people who have asked me about the masterboards.
I hope that everyone out there who decided to have a go, enjoys developing this technique.
I have found that it's best to use coated card or very good quality cartridge paper as you are often using a large amount of ink and paint.

Masterboard Card Ideas.

Hi Bloggies here are the instructions for the box card I made.
So many people have asked me about this box and also about Masterboards.
I first read about masterboards in a Stampington magazine (probably the best craft magazines in the world, though that is just my opinion of course lol!).
They are just background papers that you make yourself and can be used for die cutting, matting and layering, punching etc.
It also allows you to make a collection of items, greetings cards, ATC's, wall panels, journal pages, tags, wrapping papers etc. all with similar designs without having to buy costly papers.
I generally make mine A3 but it could be any size.

Anyway, here are the instructions for the box card.
 

I began by making the card blank. 
I have posted this before but for anyone who has missed it this is the pattern that I came up with.
You will need to click on this and open it as it is hand written.
These instructions are for a card which fits a 6" envlope and is made with an A4 piece of card.
The card I made here actually fits a 8" envelope and was made from an A3 piece of card, just adjust the measurements.

 Next, cut out the mats from the masterboard and matching coloured card.

I have cut out some of the leaves which I will use later.

 

After cutting and creasing the card blank, I started the matting and layering of the box.

 I used ribbon to add interest to the matting.

 

I decided to emboss the flowers once they were die cut, swiped over the embossing with distress ink using a blending tool, added embossing powder and heated this to give the flowers a shine.

I layered the flowers and attached a brad to each one.
 

 Next glue the box together and attach the flowers and leaves.
Take care when doing this to just check that when it is layed flat that the flowers are enclosed within the box or you will be unable to get it into the envelope.
I also stamped out some hearts and butterflies which were attached amongst the flowers and side of the box.

 

 I added text, including a sentiment at the front and completed it by adding stickles glue.

On this box, I have put the back lid in an upright position but it can also be left down like the others if wished.

 

And here is the finished box.
