I am here today to show you..... yes! another journal page. Some of you may have seen this already but today I'm showing you how it was made as I know some of you like to see this so here goes:

A little more of the Auroura Borealis just makes the bauble stand out.

 

I used an outline bauble stencil by Cardio stamps and painted the hill section (with white paint) then protected it with a piece of shaped card and added the colour to the sky ....

next covered it with the mask that comes with the stencil.

Using Distress Oxide ink and a stamping block I applied the ink and sprayed it lightly with water then dabbed it onto the page drying it and then applying more.

Once I was happy with the colour I removed the mask.

Made sure the page was completely dry and then went round the bauble lightly with a soft black pencil to create shading.

I like to put the outer stencil back in place while I stamp the images, splatter the white dots and finish it with Stickles Glitter glue then added the ribbon.

The sentiment and snow flakes were freebies from a magazine.

I am here today to show you a new ledger journal page:

Couldn't resist having a go at creating the Aurora Borealis.

They look so beautiful.

After adding the background I worked on the colours using a variety of Distress oxide inks.

I didn't want to over do my first go at this.

After adding the colours I splattered white paint to give the effect of stars and then stamped on the trees and heat embossed them with clear powder. 

This looks better in real life as it's not easy to photograph.

Then finished this with a sentiment.

I am here today to show you another journal page and a fun technique:

Lots of stamps from magazine freebies, a stencil by Inkilicious and a collection of Distress Oxides.

I attached the Low tack tape around the edge before starting and then using a blending brush added the colours, slightly darker around the sides to add shadow.

I've drawn around the edge of the stencil on vellum and then cut it out. 

Next removed the Low Tack Tape, attached the mask over the stencilled design and add some stamping details around the edge.

Once that was done I removed the mask and added the inner detail and a little more shading.

I have applied stickles glitter glue and the sentiment but we're not done yet.

A few die cut bits and pieces to finish it and I think that will do but what do you think?

I don't think things look much different here except that I am working on a new journal page.

This is a stencil by Inkylicious and you should get to see more of it by next week.

However I have been busy and finished another page since last week, also a sea theme.

I am here today to show you another journal page:

At last I've escaped the clouds but I just love the stencils at the moment and I'm working on a new one this time it's based on the sea.

This one is by Altenew.

Distress Oxide inks naturally! to start the page off.

Several layers with different colours of blue, rotating the stencil.

So to the next stage a stamp by Inkylicious, just perfect for this design.

This sentiment just says so much.

I heat embossed the stamping to strengthen the image.

I have had this set of fish dies for a while and thought it might work the way my thoughts were going with this project. I cut them out in silver pearlescent card.

I like it so far but it needed more colour.

More stamping and stencilling made the design feel more complete but......of course it needed Stickles Glitter glue too.

I lifted some of the colour from the centre before stamping the sentiment by wetting it with spray bottle and dabbing off the colour. This helps the sentiment to stand out but it could also be done by using a wash of white Gesso too.

And that's it all finished.

So here is my desk, this was Monday!

I decided I needed to open the new ledger journal. That's a cloud stencil you can see on the top and I've  placed Washi tape around the edge before adding the detail and the Oxides and brushes are at the ready.

This is today and you'll get to see the finished page soon and hopefully more to follow.

I've also made another card which may look like the one you saw last week but it was made in a different way with a cloud die instead of a stencil and the details are on the Monday post here: if you're interested.

I used the water brushes on my desk to colour the balloon dogs.

So that's me done for today.

Masterboard Monday.

    Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

I am here today to show you how I make my cloud Masterboards:

Lots of people have been asking about them so I'll do my best to explain how I do this but it is easy.

So lets get started.

Choose your colours. 

I usually have two blues and some pale pink, yellow, lilac, maybe.

I also find it easier to blend the inks with these brushes rather than sponges but that's just my choice.

There are lots of companies that sell these masks, Lawn Fawn, Altenew, My Favourite Things and Waffle Flower are a few. 

You don't want a stencil that wont work for this.

I've used an A4 sheet of card but you might want to use a smaller piece until you get used to the technique. The weight of the card is up to you.

I work from the top down but I know some people start from the bottom and work upwards.

I like to use a plastic mat to smooth the ink onto before adding it to the card so it's applied lightly.

It's better not to have too much ink on the brush when you start.

Apply the brush lightly from the mask in an upward direction.

Some of the ink will stay on the mask and you can continue to push that upwards until you are satisfied with the depth of colour.

And then move to a different colour. 

I'm using yellow here and pushing the colour over the edge of the mask, blending it lightly with the blue.

Take a look at the real clouds and you will see that there can be a variety of colours mixed in, sometimes these can be very bright or just lightly visible.

When I move to the next cloud I try to match the shapes as near as possible where they join though it doesn't always work exactly.

Maybe it's just me being fussy! but it gives a cleaner finish to the design.

Continue to add your clouds, arranging them as you go making some clouds narrow, some long, some short and round and rotate the mask as the edges are different.

Keep adding your chosen colours and adding blue in between which reminds us that we are looking at the sky.

Keep going until you reach the bottom.

And you end with something like this.

All you need to do now is push the brush up from the bottom edge to colour the blank space.

And you have it.

The centre one here I have just completed and the other two I made earlier. 

I'm showing you these as they are slightly different but I've gone for quite bright colours.

This one had Glitter glue added to it.

And I sprayed it with drops of water, lifting some of the colour off.

It would look good with splashes of ink or stamped rain drops. 

You could even add the sun in there too.

This is one that I'm working on at the moment and it's noticeably lighter.

Because of how I wanted to use this I turned the A4 sheet so that I was working on the long side.

Masterboard Monday.

   Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

I am here today to show you a card made with this Masterboard:

I've used an A3 sheet of card, some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide and a stencil.

I applied the colour to the card and then added a slightly darker ink to build up the design to look like water. The stencil was moved around to give the effect of water movement.

I have used a stronger blue on the next one.

 

The pattern builds up as you replace the stencil and add the different shades of blue.



And so to the finished card.

I've layered up sections of the finished Masterboard and used some Kate Crane stamps to create the fish which were painted and fussy cut. The tentacles and sentiment are from a different company.

These fishies are so cute.

The card is a pop up style.

Seeing the card from above helps you to see how it works.

At this stage it's important to check everything.

It has great depth to it but is completely flat when clossed.

This only uses a small amount of the Masterboard so watch this space, it may be back.
