I am here today to show you a card made with this Masterboard:

You may remember these from last week, well they are back again.

More Gel printed paper cut up and mounted  to create grid collages.
You may have guessed that I love making these.

And then added the stamping and stencilling.

This one is a bit darker than last week's but love it just the same but what do you think.

Not sure at the moment whether it will stay in the journal, we'll see soon I'm sure.

Masterboard Monday

I am here today to show you a card made with this Masterboard:

You may remember these from an earlier post here: and they were made on my Gelli plate.

Look closely and you will see that I have used Kate Crane's Balloon dog stamp and stamped it several times on the white card blank and then on another piece of card which I coloured with some Tim Holtz Watercolour pencils and cut them out..

Next I took one of the Gel printed cards and ripped two pieces, trimmed them and attached to the card before adding the dogs. The sentiment is also by Kate Crane.

I so love this little dog and added some matching coloured cord behind the dog to make the main embellishment stand out.

He even found his way inside the card too.

You can see that these little dogs are very excited about the party and can't wait to get there. Luckily they don't need wings as we all know balloons float!

I finished the dogs off with some Stickles Glitter glue on the eyes.

I am here today to show you some new Masterboards:

It's ages since I did this but I've been in the cabin playing with acrylic paints and a Gel plate.

The only problem with this technique is that once you get started it's difficult to know when to stop!

A4 card and lots of colour, love it.

These designs are made by adding colour with your fingers just smoothing the colours loosely around without mixing them too much (we don't want brown mush). Leave these to dry before brayering on the white paint thinly. 

While this is wet apply the card and smooth well into place (or use a clean brayer) so that it picks up the colour and then pull the card away. 

I like to turn a corner first to make sure it is picking up the paint.

The piece above and below were second pulls. I love these as they have less detail but still match well with the first pulls. 

There is nearly always some paint left on the plate after the first pull and often you can get another one too.

And of course you will want to see what I did with these next.......

I love Kate's little balloon dog so coloured a few more of these as I'm sure we can find a place for one of them.

Beautiful little houses.

I took one of the Gel prints and added a few stenciled and drawn images.

Now it's time to prep the pieces for layering up the design. Having cut the first square to size I have drawn the second size square on the wrong side of the card ready to cut it out.

If you have a rotery cutter like this, cutting the square out is easy.

Place the cutting blade level with the pencil line and cut along until you reach the next corner. 

Do this on all sides and then you can remove the centre piece.

Grunge the edge with scissors and then turn the card over and you can attach it to the black card.

The smaller piece is then layered with a piece of kraft and black card and attached to the base which I did with some 3D dots to give depth.

I stamped my favourite stitch stamp around the edge and then grunged it with scissors.

From there I attached the other images and created the sentiment using my Dymo.

It's not easy to see from here but I have added Stickles Glitter Glue to the windows of the buildings and the dog's eye. 

I've also used clear Glossy Accents over the whole of the dog which I think gives it even more of a balloon look though it's not easy to see that here.

Masterboard Monday - Use it or Lose it.

 Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

I'm back to using up those left-over Gelli print pieces so watch out here comes the fun!

I know you have seen this before but it has to be used up and there's still plenty left so I've made another card.

I've been playing around again with some Kate Crane stamps and this left-over Gell print.

  

I've used one of Kate's stamps to decorate the background straight onto the card blank using black ink and second generation print.

I didn't want the background to over power the design so I stamped off some of the ink before applying it to the card blank.

 I layered this up adding metalic grean cord and black card. 

The bunting is by Kate too. I finished the design with Stickles Glitter glue and.......

 a small heart from also by Kate and a birthday sentiment from my stash completes the inside of the card.

I love this card and hope you like it too.

So here is my desk for today!

I'm playing with Gelli Plates again this week but this time it's a little circular one in my tiny journal.

And this is where I'm up to so far using these stencils but there's more to come on there.

I'm using the small circular Gelli Plate to stamp onto A4 card next but no idea where this will go.

So that's me done for today.

 Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

I am here today to show you a card made with this Masterboard, well one of them at least:

I always find when I start using the Gelli Plate it's difficult to stop so quite a few samples to work with.

And a finished card too.

Despite the distraction I did get round to using one of the samples. 

The method used for this sample is one that Kate Crane often uses where small blobs of paint are placed onto the plate 

and then you use a brayer to spread the ink but this must be done carefully so as not to mix the colours which could create mud.

I'm using Acrylic paint for this project stamping it with some Carabelle texture plates and toilet rolls.

The paint must be moist for the paper to lift it but if it's dry just cover the whole thing with a thin coat of white or a pale colour and then apply the paper. Any colour left on the plate can also be lifted in this way.

I used the same texture plate to stamp onto the card blank.

The first one was stamped with a full ink load and then I used up was was left by stamping the card with small sections of the stamp to give a grungy Look.

There are many ways to create the design but I find it's better to choose just a few tools for the job at least to begin with say three different things.

I like to keep all my Gelli stuff together at the ready and that is one tip I would give you, always make sure you have everything before you start and that includes the paper you intend using.

I like to place my Gelli plate on a craft mat but you could use a sheet of paper just as long as the surface is flat and smooth.

The samples you see here were made with Sellotape and then any left-over spaces were gilded but you could add mica powders or glitters, anything that would stick to the sellotape.

These samples were done on black card which gives a different finish. I used stencils and bubble wrap on 

these.

Always clean the plate thoroughly before putting it away (baby wipes are good) but do this carefully as it is possible to damage the surface. 

Often you will see artists saying that you don't need to clean the plate during the process but just watch out for any paint that clumps as pressure  again could mark the plate. 

This plate has been used several times but still looks almost like new. 

The same goes for the brayers (rollers), clean these thoroughly when you've finished. 

One more look at the card and a close up of the print.

I also used up some of the die cut waste on the card. I quite liked those and it seemed a shame to waste them then finished off with a die cut sentiment and some enamel dots.

I've been playing with the Gelli plates for a change to create some Masterboards. It is so long since I had fun with these great techniques.

I've used Dylusion stencils to create the designs and acrylic paint.

Simple, quick and effective though once you start it's difficult to know when to stop, probably when you run out of drying space!

Then used one of these to create this card with the addition of Tim Holtz and Sizzix dies, finishing with some Stickles Glitter Glue.

Just have to decide what to do with the rest!
