Guest Creative Guide for A Vintage Journey.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

I was so pleased to be asked once again to be a visiting Creative Guide for A Vintage Journey and here is the project I've been working on.

This is how I started:
The theme for this challenge is 'Create within A Frame' and the first thing that came to mind was to use the reverse canvas technique and this is what I came up with.
To make it even more interesting I also added smaller reverse canvases to the inside section of the frame, making it frames within a frame!

The frames were completed using Calico Crafts MDF pipe work and  my glue gun, before applying Finabair Art Stones and Texture Pastes then a coat of Gesso.

I used a variety of Crafty Notions Colour sprays over this, drying between colours until I was happy with the coverage.
I don't really like this stage as everything looks messy right now!

While waiting for this to dry fully I prepared the spiders with Gesso, Crackle Paste, distress ink and Treasure Gold.

The spiders are MDF.

When everything was dry I finished the frame off by adding Finabair rust paint around the edge, some little dew drops and rubbed over with Classic Treasure Gold then applied the spiders using a heat gun.

The little bottles are actually for nail art and come with the tiny glitter inside.
I completed the design by adding the metal sentiment and some Pebeo white ink which I splattered onto the canvas.

The things I used to make this project are as follows:

A pan scrubber which makes great cobwebs. I cut up parts of this and placed them under the little bottles.

But then I decided I liked it so much that I wanted more of it so added it around the large spider too as you can see here. You need to pull and stretch it quite a bit to give a more realistic cobweb appearance to it.

Inks and Treasure Gold.

Art Stones, Rust Paint, Crackle Paste, Grunge Paste and Matte Multi Medium.

So that's it for today.
I hope you like it and maybe pop over to A Vintage Journey and join in the challenge.

Back soon
and
happy crafting,

Angela x

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

Feeling a tad confused as I clicked on your WOYWW link from Julia's page and it brought me here! I did scroll down a bit but lost the plot so am replying here instead as I really like your reverse canvas and I am also now aware of reverse canvas stuff too, which is a first.
Just wondering whether you are aware that you can make your link post specific rather than generic just to you blog so latecomers like me aren't befuddled - surely doesn't take much these days. Anyway as I was saying, glad I saw this post anyways and thanks for visiting my WOYWW post BJ#46

Huahhh...those spiders really give me the creeps, Angela! lol

But the project is brilliantly done - as usual! lol Usually I don't freak out when seeing a spider or two on a crafty project...but I guess there are too many for my phobia to cope with this time...giggle.

Erm...but I really like the rest. And the spiders are beautifully done too...I hope you can believe me...lol.

Thank you for playing along with us at SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges!

Hugs,
Claudia xxx
