Steampunk Challenge for June.

A big welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

Hi all my Bloggy friends I am a bit late with this but I have been working on it whilst doing other things but it's finished at last, just in time.
The theme for this month at SanDee and Amelie's is a colour scheme of Blue, Grey and Rust which is why my bird is blue.
I changed my mind completely about what to make half way through the month which slowed me down a bit.
Any way here it is.

He started off as a Paper Mache bird and I painted him with Gesso and then added the texture by means of stencils and moulding paste.
The cogs were Tim Holtz dies and these were glued on and paper lace, more Gesso was then added.

The ball at the base was done in the same way as the top and the stand was covered with masking tape pieces to create the texture.
I painted the ball and base with acrylic paint to begin with and then sprayed it all over with cosmic shimmer sprays.

When the bird was dry, I went over it with grey gilding wax to bring out the detail of the cogs and other stencilled shapes.

In some of the lighter areas I dry brushed some of the darker stain on to bring out the detail.

I decided it needed something on the head so it has become a cockatiel.
I completed the bird by adding rust coloured skeleton leaves, buttons, metal brads, flowers etc.

Hope you like my little Steampunk birdie.
I think he turned out quite well.

I am going to enter him in SanDee and Amelie's Steampunk Challenge for June.
As he also has metal on him I am also going to enter him in Left of Centre Use Metal, Challenge #34.

Happy crafting,
Angela x

What a beautiful bird and you put so much work into it. You certainly have an eye for detail, I love it. We had a cockatiel when I was young, they are such lovely companions.
Have a great week,

Wow, Angela!
You really put a lot of time, love and labour into this wonderful make! LOVE the texture and the light blue contrasting the rusty elements! And the doily used as a birds crown is utterly brilliant and imaginative! Very clever and what a whimsical make this is!

Thank you so much for sharing this with us at SASPC!

Hugs,
Claudia x
