Stencil Power!

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

When in doubt practise the techniques in your journal Lol!
And that's what I have been doing.

I have been creating a couple of pages in my journal using stencils and gesso and here are the finished pages.

I'm not always sure when I start a page how exactly it will develop.
With this project I had a diamond stencil I wanted to try and applied this using gesso and then covered the page with Cosmic Shimmer sprays.

I have a diamond shaped stamp which I thought would work well as a border so that was the next thing I added.
Still not sure where this was going, I looked for other things which related to the shaped already used and realised that the pen nibs are a diamond shape, I'm sorry I know there is no logic here Lol!

I managed to find other pens including the hand holding the pen and this is how the page started to develop.

I now found myself with quite a nice background but no focal image, so what to do?

The pages had taken on the theme of writing so thought I would stick with this.
The hand gave me the feeling of letter writing so I decided to use some small envelopes as the focal point.

I started by colouring some white envelopes and cards with the colours used to spray the background and then decorated these using more stencils.

And this is where I finished this project.
If you are wondering where the hand is, it's hidden behind one of the envelopes.

Hope you enjoyed looking and thanks for visiting me.

If you like the idea of using stencils then visit The Mirror Crack'd as this month's challenge is based on stencils and I am sure there will be lots of great ideas.

Happy crafting,

Hello Angela,
I thought this page was a wonderful example of how to use your stencils, you have described the steps of layering them up brilliantly and any beginner will be thrilled with this knowledge.
It is a great looking page.
I am venturing into trying to do a visual journal, Brenda at Country View Crafts has started a Linky Party, and it is each Thursday....I thought you would be interested.
Smiles:)
