Friday Fun Day with Smiles # 167

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

It's a walk in the park again!
This is such a sweet little church.

More nesting going on.

His Lordship is still keeping everyone in order.

This was the day it snowed.

And I saw this on the Island and got my camera as close as I could.
It definitely looks like an egg to me but what do you think?

New arrivals:

 So sweet!

WOYWW# 360 What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

Hi Workdesk friends.
Here we are for another Wednesday at the Workdesk.
I am here again to show you:

"What's on my Workdesk this Wednesday".

If you don't know what this is all about then please visit the

Stamping Ground, our host Julia will explain.

So here is my desk for today!

Not so tidy because I have been so busy this week as you will see later.

A Graphic 45 project yet to finish and some new dies and stencils arrived. The stamps to the right are some old ones that I decided needed a new airing. All the Treasure Gold at the back are out as I used them on the Shrine which you saw last week, now completed. Tutorial is here. if anyone is interested in knowing how I made it.

I also used the Treasure gold here too.
More Powertex while I am still in the mood Lol!

I don't want to keep you too long so better stop there but I am sure you will agree that I have been busy!

So that's it for today.
Any questions, just ask.

Thank you for stopping by and hope you will pop over and join in the visits around the other desks.

I'm off now to see what everyone else is up to.
Have a great woyww
and
happy crafting,

What More Powertex!

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

Hi all, still enjoying playing with this gungy stuff! and yes I said gungy not grungy Lol!

I saw the current challenge on Anything But Cute using a mood board and thought how interesting it would be to use these colours and the theme to create a dimensional project using the Powertex fabric hardener.
This is the completed project and how I created it.

I used a polystyrene ball and applied some masking tape before starting to ensure the fabric had something to grab onto as the Powertex may not cling well to the polystyrene.

It's difficult to photograph this during the stages in making due to the stickiness of the Powertex but I have managed a few pictures to show you what I did.

So first you need to thoroughly cover your chosen fabric in the liquid.

Then cover the ball. I wanted folds and pleats which you create as you attach the fabric.

Once this part was complete I used some of the Powertex stones to add texture and some clay dragonflies which I had made earlier with paper clay and moulds.

At this stage it needs to be left to dry thoroughly before painting. It is possible to mix paint with the Powertex but that is not the method I wanted to use this time.

My thoughts  for this came from the theme of Earth Day which is why I wanted a round shape but I also had my own garden in mind too and the insects that like to fly around the pond so it all kind of became part of the globe.

And so to the colour and a few views before we get started.

I quite like it cream which made it quite difficult to add colour.

I wanted to stain this rather than paint it so used Spectrum Noir Aqua Tint Inks in shades of blue.

I actually started at the bottom allowing some of the ink to drip down then turned it over and worked from the top with the same technique. This gives a nice light coverage with some patchy areas. I deliberately allowed some of the cream to show through too.

The next  stage was to add gilding wax to highlight the texture.

The thing I love with Powertex is that although I have a plan in mind there are always unexpected surprises.

I really enjoyed making this piece and I would love to know what you think of it.

Happy crafty week,
Angela xXx

New Art Shrine.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.
I so love the kits from Lisa at That Craft Place which are also available from stockists of Creative Expressions products so I am here today to show you my new Shrine.

This is the one I've used:

I have also included some pieces from Calico Crafts on this project.

And so to the construction.
I make no apologies, it's a busy tutorial and photo heavy so I have tried to cut down on the instructions. If you need more information, just ask.

 Front section.

Glue the sides and back and apply the fabric on the back, roof and inside. Also glue on the cotton reels for the feet.

I started this on the retreat the other weekend so used the Powertex fabric hardener to apply the fabric which was medium weight cotton and ivory Powertex. It's now completely solid.

Back and Sides.

It doesn't look very good at the moment but I promise it gets better!

I painted it all over with black Gesso and added silver gilding wax to bring out the texture.

The feet have red gilding wax, it will become obvious why later.

I added Glossy accents to the pipework to give it a more rounded effect.

And then started on the propellers which were first painted black and then the Treasure Gold added to give the metallic effect.
These are made with paper clay using a home-made mould.

I used various moulded watch parts and MDF pieces to complete the inner section and a little robot which I had in my stash.
You can probably see that I have added more red Treasure Gold just to highlight sections.

And here is the finished piece.

 Sides.

Back.

Front.

I'm quite happy with the finish of this piece but would love to know what you think.
Please leave me a comment if you can.

Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting,

Friday Fun Day with Smiles 166.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

Not so much fun maybe but sure this will make you smile.
Been walking in the park and everything seems relatively quiet but why!
Here's the reason.......
All the ducks, geese and swans are awaiting the new arrivals!

The boys are resting up but keeping guard.
Can you see her on the Island?

Not far away lies something white.

That's better now you can see who it is.

Even her husband is being relatively calm for a while though he is showing off a bit today.

Who can blame him though, he is gorgeous.

Of course I will post photos when the babies arrive.

That was going to be your lot for today but had to show you these photos.

Last Saturday we got up to find this:

The weather has been mild all winter and now this!
Still it didn't stop for long.
So that's your lot for today except for this:
