So here is my desk for today!

Now I wonder if you can see something there that has changed from last week?
Yes it's the pebble.
You all had great ideas for it and many were in the same line as myself. I thought the cracked part looked like the mouth of a fish.
And so he went from this:

Finally as promised here is the tube box. Sorry to keep you waiting but it was planned for a challenge that I belong to so couldn't really show you the finished project until now as the challenge went live on Monday.
It's been a bit hard going for my mum trying to get dad to take the tablets as he sometimes forgets why he's having them and being deaf doesn't help as he feels very isolated.
Often even the doctors don't tell him what's going on and then he feels a bit lost to understand why he has to do things.
It surprises me that they don't seem to know how to deal with deaf people. The deaf are not without understanding they just can't hear what's being said or only pick up a few words of a conversation.
They need patience and time to understand what's being said.
I always ask my dad to repeat what I've said and that way I can be sure that he understands but I'm not always there.
So that's me done for today.

Hi Angela. Gorgeous fish - he is so cute! Definitely a male, I reckon! That tube box is just fantastic - I'm so glad you have been able to show it now. I love the colours and the textures. Well done.
Hope all manages to get sorted for your parents. Yes, deafness is the hidden disability, isn't it? My dad was 95% deaf in both ears, and even the hearing aids didn't do a lot. He really struggled at times with isolation from a conversation.

You've done a great job on the pebble, the fish is such a cute little chap! I love the tube too - what fantastic textures, and such a lot of work gone into it. I am sorry your parents are having such a rough time - it must be awfully isolating for your dad and worrying for you.

Aaw, your dad is lucky to have you as a daughter. You are so good and patient with him. Just what he needs to stop him being so isolated with his hearing problem.
Your tube is beautiful, I love the colour the embellishments you have used on it, everything about it - you must be proud of your achievement. Hope you did well in the challenge. As for the little fish, I did not see that. I thought it was like that statue/monument of a large head - so I wasn't far out, it was the crack that resembled a mouth. He is cute though and you have made a super job of painting him. I hope he is going to live somewhere nice now.

I hope you can get things worked out with your parents. It's not easy. My mom passed 6 years ago and that was really difficult.

(((Angela))) it saddened me to read about your Father, with all the training we have done/do and standing up for diversity rights it's hard to believe that he is at times over looked, he really shouldn't be left to feel isolated. Times like this make our care duties harder than ever but stay strong, it's what keeps us on our toes. I'm finding things quite tough at the moment but doing my bit each week for the Mum's keeps me going.
Yes that fish is a real cutie, you need to paint him some friends :))

Well it may be a tidy desk because of everything else going on, but blimey, it’s not unproductive! I don’t know where to start on the cylindrical box, it’s awesome Angela, what a fab job. I never knew quite how much I want ammonite moulds now! And the little fish is really cute, great job. I can’t look at a stone and see that, it’s a gift of the artistic side type it really is. My father was deaf too, and I’m as you know, deaf in one ear which can make things tricky and I do agree. Hospitals and GP surgeries tend to treat us as if we’re stupid. I’m afraid that hospitals are the same with dementia. My mum had a moment of lucidity on one visit that was to check a potential blood clot in her leg; the seemingly young ‘ambulatory specialist’ just shouted at her and she managed to shout back at him ‘don’t shout’. It made me happy because I then explained that despite the dementia, her hearing remained good and he just had to explain what he was doing before he did it. Disappointing levels of dealing with certain needs and it wasn’t a one off experience either. Glad to hear that your parents are re-establishing an even keel..it is a worry, specially at time like this. The ‘shed’ is looking fab, that centre island is a gift of space and size, how marvellous!
Oh Angela, I just love your little angel fish - he’s so quirky and fun! You’ve done a great job with that funny looking little pebble! I love your finished textured 3-D piece as well - lovely to see the finished result. This time must be a worrying one for you with your parents. We understand the problems too - Mum was extremely deaf. My hubby became her principal career and always took her to the doctor/hospital etc etc to make sure she understood. It was worse with her because she had very little understanding at all about anything, especially medical matters and needed an interpreter! She would never have managed any of her medication without my hubby doing it for her, esp. as she was on warfarin and the dose altered daily.
Thank you for your visit, and I’m glad you like my little drawings. I’m working on the next batch now, but not sure I like the results as much, but we shall see! Yes, we are all (kitties included) enjoying the lovely weather! This lockdown period has turned into something quite special for us.

Angela, has anyone ever mentioned cochlear implants to your dad? ( or you and your mama? for your dad?) ( I am completely deaf and I have bilateral ones. so, if you ever have any questions about that ask me. I love that cute fish and your box turned out jaw-dropping WOW :) ~Stacy #33

Hi Angela, I love your little fish. The stone was perfect for it. I've set my three grandchildren a little competition to paint 2 rainbow stones each, for my garden. A little project to keep them busy for a day or two. Wow to the tube box, completely unrecognizable from how it started out. Sorry for the belated visit, it takes me an age to get round all the desks! I love the little pebble fish - you have brought it perfectly to life - but I love even more the finished tube box, which I have been waiting and waiting to see! I enjoyed reading the previous post and seeing how it came together, and you must be so pleased with the result of all that layering and colouring and waxing. It's really beautiful.
Thank you for your comments when you visited - I'd definitely encourage you to grow out the grey - I'm far too lazy to keep up to colouring my hair, so have been gradually going greyer over past 15 years. I'd say I'm about 40% grey now, and am finding that the special (usually purple) shampoos for grey hair makes it look like I have silver highlights. Nothing to fear and a lot of time and effort to save!

WOW what an interesting and diverse post! I was captivated from the beginning. Great to see WOYWW is still a thing a friend hearing that I am blogging again asked about it just the other day. The little pebble is adorable, as for the pups they are clearly just like my big kittens who have all always thought the bed is theirs and that I am some kind of hot water bottle! The star of the show is of course that fabulous tube box so much work has clearly gone into to the result if jaw dropping. x

So sorry to hear about your parents' struggles. I'm really shocked that doctors don't have an understanding of how to include a deaf person in a conversation - particularly when they are the subject of the conversation.
