Use it or Lose it.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

I am here today to show you how I've used yet more stash that has been sitting for some time waiting for that special moment and here it is today:

I bought this canvas years ago and had no idea at the time what I was going to do with it until I received my April kit from the Creative Craft Academy and I just knew how I wanted to use it.

It has the beautiful moulded mermaid by Prima and all the other pieces to complete this project but I couldn't resist making a small change to the plan.
So here goes!

Any ideas yet?
Turned the canvas over first.

Cut out circles of corrugated card (yes more stuff that's been sitting around Lol!)

More forgotten products, this time Prima pebbles.
I just knew they would come in handy some day!

Bet you're starting to get the idea now.

It's going to be a porthole.
Applied a good covering of black Gesso.

And then coloured the inside.
Next we need to prep the embellishments.

I've used a variety of waxes to colour the porthole by applying with a stiff brush and then rubbing over to buff it up.

And so to the completion.
I played around a little before deciding where everything should go.

I've also added some of the glitter around the inside edge of the canvas depicting the bottom of the sea to ground the design a little and give a feeling of the water moving.

And here we are completed.
Quite pleased with this but what do you think?
I would love to hear your comments.

Many thanks for stopping by and happy crafting,

Angela x

I would like to enter this project in the following challenges:

Plenty of movement and so much to admire Angela. How creative to make the porthole and I love how you used the pebbles, the canvas and the waxes to make it. A fantastic mixed media project and what a beautiful mermaid holding that shell in her hand. So unique and creative and I love it x.

I think I have finally caught up with your posts! Hope you and your family are keeping well.

Setting the mermaid in a porthole enhances it enormously and definitely helps with the feeling of movement and water. I think you have greatly improved on the kit suggestion ;-) xxx

What a stunning project, Angela, and amazing use of those things that have been 'hanging around'. I love it that you turned those pieces into a porthole from which to view the mermaid. Fabulous job!

This is absolutely fabulous Angela. Your mermaid looks amazing in her porthole, and I love the glitter, every mermaid needs glitter! I genuinely surprise myself with some of the things that I find that I've had far too long. Take care and have a very happy week, Sue xx
