Hi BP, please excuse me if I don't get up.

We have been in the kennel for two whole weeks!

Don't get me wrong it's okay, they look after you well and the companies good but they don't have the same quality of comfy seating so I am making up for it now and may not move from here for a while, well until dinner time anyway Lol!

 

Well it's no good me hanging around here then.

I will have to find someone else to talk to as it's obvious he will be no fun Lol!

What a lazy animal!

Oh no! he's snoring now, well that's it, I'm off!!!

Back again for another Wednesday, to the fabric playground.

I am here to show you:

So here is my desk this week.

Remember this? well!

I have been playing again Lol!
With something called Distressing Paper though I need to make some space first Lol!

When I opened the packet I thought it looked and felt very much to me like Vylene interfacing.

 

 

 So I tried colouring it and then heated it with my heat gun....

 

and this was the result.

 

I also added some gilding wax lightly to bring out the textural detail.

 

 

This was the second sample.

 

 

 

With this one, I threaded through some ribbon.

 

I have been doing lots of testing recently but need to complete the project I had planned for these samples and will be back soon to show you how I have used them in my art work.

 

But for now....

 

I'm off to see what everyone else have been doing.

Yes we're skiing this week but naturally I have brought some crafty stuff with me.
You never know if there might be a white-out Lol!
I have been desperate to have another go at Zentangling so thought that would be easy to bring along and another piece I am doing for Tracey at Lavinia Stamps though all this depends on the weather of course Lol!.
So here is my desk for this week.

 

I realise this may come as a surprise, it's so tidy Lol!

 

I know there are many of you who are far more experienced than I am with this technique but I am doing my best at developing a sketchbook of tiles.

This is one of the strings I have drawn and I have realised it is a good idea to copy it onto the back of the page as it is often difficult to know what you used once the tangles are drawn but these are just things you have to learn Lol!
You never know this might be useful to other Zentangle Newbies.


You will know by next week how good the weather has been by the amount I have completed though I will get a bit done in the evenings while he's in the bath, that's when I am not talking to you lot!

Well that definitely is a quick one from me. 

Right! now I'm off to see what everyone else is doing, well after a bit of skiing that is Lol!

Masterboard? Snow and More Snow.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

Sorry no Masterboard today because........ we are in France!!!

Just had to show you this fantastic view, this is one of my favourite places to be here in the Three Valleys in France.
In French - Les Trois Vallées.

I have taken this as a Panoramic so you can get a good look.

Les Menuire is a very French resort in comparison to some others in this area which we really love.

Other resorts in this area are Val-Thorens, Meribel, Courchevel and one of the newer resorts here, Orelle.

This is the largest interlinking ski area in the world and a fantastic place if you like the sport, but keep it quite because I am not supposed to let on Lol! or they will all want to be here.

Off to ski now,
well actually I've gone already Lol!

I have been talking with her recently and she seems to think that she has changes on the way but doesn't seem to know what.

Apparently she is being watched and there has been some activity with paint and stuff so we shall have to wait and see what happens Lol!

Today I have some of the tests I've been doing with the Tyvek.

First I painted it.

 

And then placed it over a rubber stamp, covered it with baking parchment and ironed it.

 

 

And this is the result so far.

 

 

I have done this before but I am always surprised how clear the pattern is.

Hope you like it too.

 I am definitely going to use this as part of the decoration for my journal cover.

But for now....I'm off to see what everyone else have been doing.

Masterboard Monday and more Stencils.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

After my earlier play with the Picasa, I decided to give it another go.
This is the same stencil that I used before but covered it completely with a big and juicy ink pad.

This is the Original.

 

 

And the altered stuff using the Picasa3 program.

 

So here we go!

Did I have fun or what!!! and so quick too.

 

The next thing will be to try printing them on different types of card and also using them in a project.

The changes to the colours are just amazing, well I think so but what do you think?

Playtime with Fabrics.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

Hi friends, hope then new year is good for you so far.

Those who know me will be aware that my background is in Textiles and although I love working with other materials I cannot help going back to the fabrics, however this does not necessarily mean just sewing as there are many things that you can do with them and I hope to show you a few of the techniques I like to do.
To start this, I have been using my heat gun.

I've been having fun playing with a variety of Synthetic materials and thought you might like to see what I've done so far.
Synthetic fabrics are amazing stuff to play with and you never know exactly how they will behave but you must be careful not to heat them too much or you can end up with nothing left Lol!
These materials shrivel lovely (Shrivel is a technical term obviously Lol!).

So here is a sample I've made and the materials I've used.
I like to use a cotton backing as this stabilises the fabric and then layer up other fabrics to add different texture and colours.
These fabrics are machined together in any stitch but I used straight stitch for this piece and I layered together Nylon net and Polyester Organza.

 

This is what the fabrics looked like when complete and ready for heating.

 And here is what happens when you heat it with the Heat Gun.

 

 

 

 

If you were here on Wednesday you will remember the small sample on the right and the large one on the left, I have been playing with here.

 

 

The tub at the back contains some pieces of Tyvek but that's for another day.

 

I hope you enjoyed that and I look forward to showing you what else I have been doing, who knows, I might even make something with the samples.

Couldn't resist this, just for Julia, hope she likes it.
Those of you who know Julia's blog will understand the significance of this photo.
The shadows are myself and 'Him Indoors'.
The two shadows at the bottom are Maisie and Stanley.

 

It occurred to me what fun it would be if some of you joined in and posted some similar photos.

 

And now for my desk.

 

Anyone who has been round recently will know that I have been playing and the piece of fabric on the right is one of the results. The larger piece on the left is the start of my next playtime and is a layer of various synthetic fabrics with a cotton base, ready to be heated up.

 

 

 

 

This is a close-up of what you can expect to happen after the heating.

 

I will be back soon to post you the results.
