Friday Fun day

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

Angela here again to show you what I've been up to this week.

I have a few more photos from our trip to Matlock Baths today.

We started the day with a walk through the market at Matlock itself and then made our way to the station.

Past the Station Masters house and across to
platform 2. Part of the Peak Rail.

And here's our train arriving!

How beautiful is this?
The steam trains that run on this line are all old shunting engines often used by mines.

We didn't see it that day but there is one called "Waleswood" which is from the area where my husband lived near Kiveton Park.
The engine was built in 1930 and taken to Kiveton Park Collery near Rotherham South Yorkshire in 1962  (we would have been 8 years old at the time) and later in 1972 (the same year that I started college) it was moved again but due to problems it stood for some time in the rain until it was put back into working order in around 2019.
It's a very lucky engine as there are many more that we saw left only to be used for spare parts.

Originally it looked like this......

And now like this, what a smarty!

All the work here is done by volunteers.

We got off at Rowsley where there is a cafe and small museum.

Many of the old advertisement signs have been preserved.

This is hubby waiting for the train to set off.

Don't know who this was but she was obviously enjoying the journey.

It all felt so civilised, peaceful and slow, loved it.

If you are lucky enough to visit it at the weekend they also do afternoon teas on the train which are booked in advance of your trip.

But we're back to real life now and gardening!

And that's just the beginning.

Who ever wanted a big garden!
Oh dear think it was me!

Have a great weekend everyone and
 thanks for stopping by.

And if you would like some more smiles you just need to pop over to see what our other friends have been doing this week at Annie's for
"This Week's Smiles" and you can also share your  smiles too.

WOYWW - 797 - What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

Hi Workdesk friends.
We are here for another Wednesday at the Workdesk and here is:
"What's on my Workdesk this Wednesday".

If you don't know what this is all about then please visit
Sarah's Craft Shed and our host Sarah will explain.

So here is my desk for today!
This is in the cabin today.

Nearly ready to remove the resin from the tub. You can just see some of the objects in the bottom,
shells, stones, starfish and jellyfish.

I've added more to the waterfall but not finished yet and Gel Medium to the surface of the water which gives the effect of moving water when it dries.
I've trimmed off the thread that was holding the Manta Ray in place too.

These are not projects that can be rushed as deep pour resin takes time to set thoroughly but the final stages will be next.

I have never made anything as big as this before with resin let alone without a silicone mould so fingers crossed it looks okay and pops out cleanly when it's finished.
I like the colour of the water and the way the sand turned out when set so we'll see.

No idea what I'll do with it when completed as it was just a test piece really.

Finally my usual desk!

This is Sarah's fault!

I had collected some of these on Pinterest.
So checked out the website, ordered Wednesday evening and they arrived Friday afternoon, now that
has got to be good.
Thank you Sarah x

So that's me done for today.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you will pop over and join in the visits around the other desks.

I'm off now to see what everyone else is up to.
Have a great woyww

and
happy crafting,

Masterboard Monday.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

I am here today to show you a card made with this Masterboard:

I was playing with a friend a couple of weeks ago and we were using some alcohol inks which I have to say I have had for years and they haven't seen the light of day for far too long so it got me thinking that it was time to get them out and play so this will not be the last project you see here.

So here is my first effort:

Just lots of fun adding colour with no idea where it would end up.
Just what I love, it's so relaxing.
No worries just fun!

Now where shall we go next?

There's lots more you can add to this but for now I'm leaving a small piece as it is and using it to create the background for a card.

The card is 6"x 6" so quite a big die which is by Creative Expressions.

The die cut sentiment is by Crafts Too - Presscut.

Hope you don't mind me making a Christmas card but you can never start too soon but I promise there will be other ideas with this soon.

I would love to hear your comments.

Many thanks for stopping by and happy crafting,

Friday Fun Day with Smiles.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

Angela here again to show you what I've been up to this week, well last week really.

We arrived at Matlock Bath (Derbyshire) on Bank Holiday Monday to find not only the usual collection of Motorcyclists but the Dutch doing their tour.
This is called the Carbage Rally.

Carbage run is a 5 day road terip through Europ in an old piece of junk though these didn't look loike junk to me.
It says the rules are simple: the car is not worth more than 500 Euros and is at least 15 years old. This rally is not abou speed but lots of noise and flashing lights which was exactly how it was and great fun.

But you can't go to Matlock Bath without seeing the Motorbikes.

Most of the riders are very mature maybe not what you might expect. They sit and chat about motorbikes and visit the bikers leather shop which is on the other side of the hotel where we stay.

This is one of the doors in the hotel which is still in the style that it would have been when the Victorians stayed here to enjoy the waters.

Matlock Bath is so called because of the health spa.
It began much earlier than the Victorian times and in 1698 three medical springs were discovered but became very popu;ar with the Victorians who liked to use the Baths believing it was good for their health.

Matlock Bath is a village in the Derbyshire Peak District, located at the Bottom of the Derwent Valley though I know most of my UK friends will know this already.

I wont bore you again with lots of photos of the inside of the hotel as I showed these last year but if you missed them they are here:
It is very unusual to find a hotel like this as most have been renovated to a more modern style.

Breakfast how you like it.

I have to say this was one of my favourite ways to start the day.

We had these gorgeous homemade pies at Rose Cottage one of the motorcyclists favourite bars.
Those who know me will be aware that I don't eat potato so lots of extra veg, gorgeous.

I'm going to stop here but will show you more next week.
Just a little something to make you smile and then I'm off.

Have a great weekend everyone and
 thanks for stopping by.

And if you would like some more smiles you just need to pop over to see what our other friends have been doing this week at Annie's for

WOYWW- 796 - What's On your Workdesk Wednesday.

Not a lot here as we only got back from Matlock on friday then I went for my Shingles Jab on Saturday morning, managed the Craft club but by the evening I was shaking and shivering. It took a couple of days before I started to feel better but it has to be done, much better than the Shingles.

I did manage to make an anniversary card for my sister-in-law yesterday which is now on it's way.

It had to be simple as my brain wasn't in the mood for anything too complex.

This is where I am up to with the Diorama.

I've added the sea creatures, blue resin for the water and the start of the waterfall. The small cane is holding the Mantaray in place while the resin sets. Because this is a deep pour resin it takes much longer to set so going away for a week is a good idea as I'm not tempted to put my finger in to see if it's setting Lol!

More to follow next week.

So that's me done for today but if you want to see what I was up to last week there will be lots of photos here on Friday.

Go On! just a teaser.....

Thanks for stopping by and hope you will pop over and join in the visits around the other desks.

I'm off now to see what everyone else is up to.
Have a great woyww

Masterboard Monday.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

I am here today to show you a card made with this Masterboard:

Just another way to use these.

I used a spellbinders die to cut the wavy shapes.

Added to the die cut with some stamped bubbles, Stickles Glitter glue, tiny clear pebbles and the die cut jelly fish, not sure what make they are.
I did have brown patterned paper so used that too for the sand effect.

Just a coordinating sentiment, also by Spellbinders and it's done.

I would love to hear your comments.

Many thanks for stopping by and happy crafting,

Angela x
