Friday Fun day

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

Angela here again to show you what I've been up to this week.

I have a few more photos from our trip to Matlock Baths today.

We started the day with a walk through the market at Matlock itself and then made our way to the station.

Past the Station Masters house and across to
platform 2. Part of the Peak Rail.

And here's our train arriving!

How beautiful is this?
The steam trains that run on this line are all old shunting engines often used by mines.

We didn't see it that day but there is one called "Waleswood" which is from the area where my husband lived near Kiveton Park.
The engine was built in 1930 and taken to Kiveton Park Collery near Rotherham South Yorkshire in 1962  (we would have been 8 years old at the time) and later in 1972 (the same year that I started college) it was moved again but due to problems it stood for some time in the rain until it was put back into working order in around 2019.
It's a very lucky engine as there are many more that we saw left only to be used for spare parts.

Originally it looked like this......

And now like this, what a smarty!

All the work here is done by volunteers.

We got off at Rowsley where there is a cafe and small museum.

Many of the old advertisement signs have been preserved.

This is hubby waiting for the train to set off.

Don't know who this was but she was obviously enjoying the journey.

It all felt so civilised, peaceful and slow, loved it.

If you are lucky enough to visit it at the weekend they also do afternoon teas on the train which are booked in advance of your trip.

But we're back to real life now and gardening!

And that's just the beginning.

Who ever wanted a big garden!
Oh dear think it was me!

Have a great weekend everyone and
 thanks for stopping by.

And if you would like some more smiles you just need to pop over to see what our other friends have been doing this week at Annie's for
"This Week's Smiles" and you can also share your  smiles too.

Love the trains. How nice to see them being brought back to their former glory. It looks as though you had a lovely trip.
You do have a lot of garden to sort out but it is still lovely to have. I am always amazed at how much debris we get from doing a bit of pruning etc.
Have a good week. Kate x

Have you got to pay/register to have your garden waste taken away now? We have to pay £1/week....it's worth it but sad we have to pay more. Love the train and it looks like you had a lovely time away.
Hugs,

It´s weekend and... I get trains, LOL (have the day off today).
I have to old trains that go to Norway. The maintanance-documents are that old there is only .pdf, no word...
Last year we rode in such a steam-train,too, and In February with the refurbished Indian Pacific from Adelaide to Perth, it was wonderful! To old trains!
Our balcony is already too much work for me ;-)
Have a great Friday xXx

I love trains too. Old ones, new ones and anything in between. It's great that there are so many volunteers to keep the old boys going. Whenever I visit somewhere and there is an old railway, I have to go on it. And any railway museum is a must!
So, lucky you. Looks like a very pleasant journey.
Btw, my Internet is back. Hurray!
Have a lovely weekend,
Lisca
