The Mirror Crack'd Challenge.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.
Here we are again for another challenge at The Mirror Crack'd and this month it's Masks and you can interpret this in any way you like so let's see your ideas.

I've used an actual mask to create a canvas but you could decorate a mask or use masking techniques, it's up to you to show us how imaginative you can be.

We are thrilled to be sponsored by
With a prize of £12.00 to spend at your favourite Woodware Stockist, either in store or on line.

Hope you like mine........ I have named it:

It's all in the Head.

There are quite a lot of photos to help you with the tutorial.

I started this by collecting together the following and played around a little with their arrangement on the canvas.
The polystyrene balls were cut in half with a Stanley knife.

Used a stencil to create texture on the mask.

The same stencil and Crackle texture paste on the canvas.

More texture with Viva Modelling Cream.

I used the cream again with a Ryn (Designs by Ryn) stencil to create the swirl and heated this with my heat gun which causes it to rise and bubble, gorgeous!

Continued to add more detail this time with tiny polystyrene pellets and painted everything with Gesso.

Then started to add colour using Crafty Notions and Cosmic Shimmer Sprays.

Painted Gesso onto a collection of small MDF shapes.

Attached some of the shapes and continued with lots more spraying.

And painting the small detail by hand.

Then rubbed over the texture using Treasure Gold Gilding Wax.

The textures by now were so gorgeous it was difficult to cover them up.
However... I did and here is the finished canvas.

Close-ups.

And the complete canvas......

I do hope you enjoyed looking and will pop over and see what my DT members have made for your delight.
I look forward to seeing your entries for the challenge which you will find by clicking here: challenge.

Thanks for stopping by
and happy Crafting,

Angela xXx

Wow, love this one, Angela! What a stunning project. I love how you've cut the polystyrene balls in half - that's a neat trick and I might borrow that idea! I love the colours and the flowing curve of the design. Great stuff!

Oh my goodness Angela, this has to be one of the most beautiful canvases I have seen for a long time - it has such an ethereal quality about it. I cannot imagine how you kept all that polystyrene under control but you have done THE most fantastic job on the gorgeous background. This looks like something that is just begging to be touched/stroked. I LOVE IT - a lot!!! Hugs, Anne xx

It's the "mask cracked" at the "mirror cracked"!!! Seriously Angela - this is TOTALLY and COMPLETELY BEAUTIFUL. The colors are just too perfect... just lovely - so gentle but yet so luscious. And the entire project is AMAZING - all the texture, shimmer, layers.... you hit this one OUT OF THE PARK.... just awed by it. j.

This stunning project is very magical and looking at your creative process was so much fun. The only problem is that I now have the tune from Phantom of the Opera in my head and can't get it out :( Thanks for joining us at Anything But Cute.
