WOYWW - 643 - What's On You Workdesk Wednesday.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

Hi Workdesk friends.
We are here for another Wednesday at the Workdesk and here is:
"What's on my Workdesk this Wednesday".

If you don't know what this is all about then please visit the

Stamping Ground, our host Julia will explain.

Here is my desk for today!

Not too untidy, mostly because I'm starting something new.

This is the card you can see on the left.
It's very old and I found it when looking for something else. You may notice that the moths are partly stamped on Stamp Board and I know there's more of that somewhere! so it may appear again.

Got this little robin die out but not sure if I will use him yet.

Nothing much different here.

And this is the start of some Pinwheel Tower cards that I was doing with the Craft Class on Saturday.

If you're not familiar with them they stand like this.

And if you are interested there are more examples of these cards in my Monday post here.

So that's me done for today.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you will pop over and join in the visits around the other desks.

I'm off now to see what everyone else is up to.
Have a great woyww
and
happy crafting,

Use it or Lose it.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

I am here today to show you a card made with more forgotten papers.

I was at the Craft Club this Saturday and did a class for the ladies and Brian (our one and only gentleman crafter), making Pinwheel Tower cards.

There are lots of these cards about on the internet usually giving you measurements for the sample but no where could I find instructions of how to resize the cards but I'll give you a clue as to how I've done it and I can tell you it's so simple.

The cards I've made here fit into a C6 envelope which measure about 11.5 c.m x 16.5 c.m (4 1/2" x 6 1/2").
  • The card itself measures 11 cm x 15 cm x (4 1/4" x 6").
  • The Tower section is 8 cm. (3")with the first panel attached, making it 13 cm (5 1/8").
  • The other three panels measure 5.5 cm (2 1/ 8")x 15 cm (6").

I've left one side white so that I can write my own message on it.

This gives a clear view of the tower section.
The first panel folds to be attached to the tower and the rest are then added. I prefer glue but you can use double sided tape too.

Although the card has several sections it only takes one A4 piece of card to make it, leaving you with spare pieces to add any layering required.

I had several gold snowflakes left over from last year so this seemed like a good chance to use them up and some striped ribbon that's also been hanging around for a while.

With this one I've used blue card for the base and added a stamped sentiment too.
The papers are freebies from magazines.

By now you may be starting to have ideas of your own of how you can decorate these cards.

Now you've seen the card you may be interested to know how to alter the size as promised
Once you have the basic width for the Tower section keep this the same and then decide which size envelope you would like the card to fit into.

  •  Measurements are then taken for the height and width taking off about 1.5 cm so the card will fit into the envelope easily.
  • To get the measurement for the panels take the measurement you have for the width and divide by two, this will give you the panel size and then you're ready to do the construction.
I have a layout drawn up for this card which may help some of you if you'd like to have ago at making one of these and I'll be putting it on the page section soon.

Addendum
You can find the template in the pages section under Card Folds.

I would love to see any ideas that you come up with, just leave me a message and a link and I'll be there in a shot.
I would love to hear your comments too.

Many thanks for stopping by and happy crafting,

Friday Fun Day.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

Angela here again to show you what I've been up to this week.

The clearing of the new building site continues.

All clear now and ready for the next stage infact there has been a lot of noise down there today.

I wonder if you remember me showing you this tree which had been chopped back. It is in a garden at the end of our street.

The couple had not lived there for very long and decided to cut it back.

This is how it looks now and growing well. I'll be back later in the year to see how it's getting on.

On the way back from my mum's this week we went through the next village from where she lives.
It's very old and has the most beautiful church too.
The village is called Laughton-en-le-Morthern.
There are many theories about the name which apparently in French means place of death which apparently fits with the fact that the Battle of Brunanburh took place close by which was supposed to be the last chance to regain the mainland from the Saxons.

I'm sure you'll agree the church is very pretty.

Several visits to the park.

Swan babies are growing.

This was funny.
I wonder if you can guess why they have put a chain round it?
I'll let you know next week but for now what do you think?

And a few dog funnies for you.

I can't remember whether you've seen any of these so added a few extra.

That looks like a good idea for the weekend, hope you manage a bit yourselves.

 Thanks for stopping by.

And if you would like some more smiles you just need to pop over to see what our other friends have been doing this week at Annie's for
"This Week's Smiles" and you can also share your  smiles too.

woyww -642- What's On You Workdesk Wednesday.

So here is my desk for today!

Back at the old desk as the Gothic Cabinet is all finished as you will see soon.

The purple bag has dried flowers in it and the little box next to it is soap colouring so you can probably guess what I'm likely to be up to next.
The plastic bowl appears to be a dumping ground at the moment and probably needs sorting.

The exploding box is filling up again but has been worse.

This is part of the samples that I'm preparing for my class at the Craft Club on Saturday.

And something lots of you have been waiting for........

The finished Cabinet.

Decorated the back too.

And the sides.

Hope you enjoyed that and it was worth waiting for.
If you would like to see more detail or you missed the earlier stages you can find the details here at my 3D project page.

So that's me done for today.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you will pop over and join in the visits around the other desks.

I'm off now to see what everyone else is up to.
Have a great woyww
and
happy crafting,

Mixed Media Monday.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

I am here today to show you some 3D mixed media that I've been working on:

I love the MDF projects by Hobbilicious and couldn't wait to play with this one.

Some of you have been watching the stages as I've gone along so it's only fair now to show you the finished project so here goes. Hope you like it.

Lots of moulded pieces went into the making of this piece by Prima, Zuri and Prosvet.

The MDF pieces are by Hobbilicious, and the black lace (Top side sections) by Prima.

I couldn't resist building up a little story around the back, just use your imagination my friends!

Another of my favourite dragon moulds (Prosvet).
The background was made using a Finnabair stencil and embossing paste.

After adding the colour I finished the detail with gilding wax.

Side section.

So all finished with the addition of a few decorative items from my collection.
The wands are rock crystal and semi precious stones that I have collected over a long time and they just seemed to suit the cabinet and may well end up staying there.

If you would like to see the the stages in making this I have photographs in the page section and you can find them here.

I would love to hear your comments.

Many thanks for stopping by and happy crafting,

Friday Fun Day.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

Angela here again to show you what I've been up to this week.
I was wondering what I have been doing this week.
Shopping for my mum's weekly order, doing her housework and walking the dogs as usual. A bit of gardening when it stopped raining and quite a bit of time in the cabin and that was about it but a few interesting photographs on the way.

Walking the dogs and watching them knock down the two houses.

If you were here last week you may remember what the houses looked like.

And the following day this was all that was left.
If you look towards the back of the land and you kept walking you would get down to where we live on the left hand side.

Still lots of rubble!
Look forward to seeing what happens next.

The park was busy the other day with school children looking for wildlife in the lake.
Great to see them enjoying the park.

I think I've mentioned before that Lincoln has a large piece of common land where quite  a few people keep their ponies. Recently some of the horses have been ill due to people feeding them foods which they shouldn't have so they have put up a notice.

I just had to show you this.
It looks as though the pony is very interested in the picture of the cake.
How sweet is that!

Other than that, I've spent time in the cabin working on the cabinet again!

I have actually started adding colour now so everything should be finished by next week.

Not much else really today so I'll leave you with some dog funnies.

Hope you enjoyed those.
Have a great weekend everyone and
 thanks for stopping by.

And if you would like some more smiles you just need to pop over to see what our other friends have been doing this week at Annie's for
