That Craft Place Challenge.

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

And here is my second design for :
That Craft Place Challenge Blog.
Hope you will pop over and join in the challenge and have a look at what my team members have made to inspire you.

For this project we have been asked to use the Theme of Mixed Media Anything Goes!
So can't go wrong there!
And here is my project for this month.

I started with A Prima stencil by Finnabair and a 19 cm x 24 cm Art Canvas  Board.

I then applied the Mineral Texture Gel through the stencil and allowed it to dry.

This gives a gorgeous texture as seen below.

I also added some Paper Artsy Fresco Finish Crackle Glaze through a Tim Holtz stencil and Crafters Workshop stencils.
While this was still wet I added some watch parts and then allowed everything to dry.

Next I played around with other embellishments in order to decide which would look most affective.
I particularly like the MDF cogs and the dragonfly.
That Craft Place can cut almost anything you want in MDF so well worth a visit and also stock MDF pieces from other companies too.
The Compass parts are by Tando Creative which Lisa also stocks at
That Craft Place.

I decided to use a Tim Holtz metal Word Band, also stocked by That Craft Place. They really stock so much so it's well worth a look.

At this stage it is time to decide on the Gesso, will it be Black or White?

Black...or.....

....White?

This is so hard Lol!

Yes it's white!!!

Quite like it as it is actually!
In the end I decided not to use the dragonfly. I think sometimes we are frightened by blank spaces and over-fill our designs.
Space is good, it helps to balance the design and lead the eye to different parts of the design.
Sorry this is not really the place for design theory Lol!
Move on girl!!!

Close-up showing some of the detail.

And now for the colour. Used Crafty Notions sprays for this.

I sprayed the inks on and allowed some of it to run down the canvas.

When complete and dry, I rubbed over with some Treasure Silver which really makes the detail pop!.

And here is the finished project and hope you like it.

Oh wow, Angela, I LOVE this! All that yummy texture and I do love steampunk... Good choice to go with the white gesso and the shabby chic look, but think it would be fun to try it with black too! What a gorgeous piece.

Thank you for taking me through that -sometimes I am afraid of my own shadow when it comes to mm - I would never have painted the metal things until I saw yours. NOW I will! It all looks so good and the silvering at the end? The icing on the cake! Thanks for sharing with us at Eclectic Ellapu for our June challenge.
