WOYWW # 557 - What's On your Workdesk Wednesday

Welcome to all my new followers, hope you enjoy the journey.

Hi Workdesk friends.
Here we are for another Wednesday at the Workdesk.
I am here again to show you:

"What's on my Workdesk this Wednesday".

If you don't know what this is all about then please visit the

Stamping Ground, our host Julia will explain.

So here is my desk for today!

The desk is looking tidy but that's only because I've just finished playing with some Brushos and the can of Spray starch.
Don't worry I'll show you what I've been up to in a minute.

 But first new stuff.
Altenew stamps and dies.

Alcohol pens from the Works. Great price for all these at only £15.00

These are from the Works too.

And here is what I've been playing with.
These are the mica Sprinkles that go with the Brushos.
You sprinkle these on top of the Brushos to give a lovely shiny effect.

Some of the papers I've made and some die cut pieces.
The good thing about using Starch instead of water is that the colours are fixed and will not react with water if they get wet and the card smells nice too.
I am sure to have fun finding uses for these.

I've used the matching stencil to start decorating a card blank and when this is finished I will be adding the die cut pieces though I'm not sure at the moment exactly where I'm going with this one but I will do a post for the instructions when it's completed.

So that's me done for today.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you will pop over and join in the visits around the other desks.

I'm off now to see what everyone else is up to.
Have a great woyww
and
happy crafting,

Angela x

It’s so reassuring to read that you’re not entirely sure how the card is going to evolve. Coming from a skilled person like you, it gives a lot of us hope! The starch is a very effective method, how interesting! I spotted the new stamps as soon as the picture loaded, it helped off set the sense of panic that your desk wasn’t being used!!

I love your red drawers! I really need to invest in some vertical storage as I'm running out of room to put everything.

I think that Brushos are really fabulous and the fact that you can bling them up with mica makes them even better!! You're like an experimental crafting scientist!

Thanks for visiting me already, I am slowly making my way through all the desks between doing loads of washing and cooking lunch for my son who is 15, taller than me (I'm not short... 6ft) and starving... on school holiday break... your stuff all looks very interesting on your desk. Ive not tried starch before... now to research this bit of info... #18

Lovely neat desk and I love the fun work in progress. Can you let me know how you get on with Works alcohol markers? My son, Alex is after some alcohol markers for his art and I am loathe to buy him really expensive ones until I know it isnt just a passing fad! Happy WOYWW. Have a lovely week, with love and God Bless, Caro xxx (#20)

I enjoy using starch and Brusho's but I never knew they are fixed and won't react to water.... thank you Angela x. I have wondered whether to buy the sprinkle mica powders to go with my brusho's....x. What a bargain with the alcohol inks from the works. Thank you for sharing x.

oooh Angela those backgrounds look so pretty. ( I just happened across my container of powdered watercolors the other day and thought you should get them out again) ( I dusted and that was it)
I love the idea that there are sparkle powders too. ~Stacy #26

A lovely tidy desk, Angela, and wow, your Brusho pieces are just stunning - really juicy! I love the grey through the stencil, too. Grey is an area I really want to get into. I saw Jennifer McGuire recommending some grey patterned paper recently but it doesn't seem to be available in the UK, so I thought I might experiment and try and make some of my own. You've got some lovely stuff from the Works but I can't make out what those gorgeous brightly coloured shiny things are! I haven't heard of Brusho Sprinkles before but I suspect you could get the same effect with Perfect Pearls? I've got a lot of those. I would love to find out more about the spray starch technique too. You always have such fabulous ideas and techniques on your blog!!

Thanks for your visit and I'm glad you like my new pen case. I am very pleased with it. So far none of my pens have failed to fit in it, even though the elastics are quite tight. The pocket will hold up to A4 size too, which is great. As for the funny, I couldn't resist it! I know I am having my tummy tuck for necessary medical reasons but I'm kind of chuffed that I'm getting a tummy tuck free on the NHS - quite funny really! I wouldn't recommend my way of getting one to everyone, though lol!! Glad you enjoyed the kitty pics too.

Happy WOYWW,

One of my favourite backgrounds , that I don't use because I like it so much, was my first ever done with Brusho's and starch. In fact I think that was my first introduction to Brusho's so you can tell how long ago it was.
Very interesting to see the pens from The Works, how are they? Did you try them? It looks a good way of bulking up my Promarkers as slowly but sure they are running out and each day I seem to throw one away.
Here's to a good week of crafting for you and anything else you enjoy thrown in.
Hugs, Neet 1 xx

Great tip about using spray starch instead of water Angela. I will have to try it. I haven't tried the new Brushos as I have so many Pixie Powders that I use them instead with the ordinary Brushos. Looks like you've been getting plenty of play with them. Look forward to seeing where the card goes. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #2

I'm late , I'm late for a very important date.....sorry but I've made 5 Memory bears in last two days plus other urgent sewing jobs too and of course my customers must come first :-). I guess it's better late than never eh?
I chuckled at Julia's comment about you not being sure how your card will evolve....I wouldn't have a clue where to start never mind finish.

Hi Angela, those Brusho sprinkles look great. I wondered how much of the spray starch you needed to use. Ie does the surface have to be visibly wet? Also do you seal the Brushos so you can use another “wet“ medium on top?

That's a great tip about the starch fixing the pigments with the Brushos (must work with PaperArtsy Infusions too, I guess). The mica shimmer sounds like a great addition to your mixed media toolkit. The papers and doilies look fabulous. The desk is certainly looking far more tidy than mine... I'm a little envious!

Well Angela its great use of your new crafty space, well done?! Love those Altenew buys and the Works lived up to its name you can buy the works there!
Mm spray starch and brushos. That's new. You can use perfect pearls with brushos too for pearly colours. I used my Lindy's magicals this week on male card, it looks fab!
Sorry for such late visit .. 😊
Thanks for sharing, and may God bless you.

Hi there! Hmmm I've not worked with my brushos much. I wonder if I could sprinkle with my pigment powders. Now you have me thinking. That isn't always a good thing. ;-) I'm a bit behind (okay, a lot) because Bob came home on Thursday. I'll see you tomorrow. Hugs. Kelly #19
